Zelda Blanche Meyer Rhoades –

Zelda Blanche Meyer Rhoades, daughter of Richard and Dorthea Zwanziger Meyer, was born December 10, 1899 in Alma, KS and passed away January 10, 2008, in Duncan, OK. She moved to Topeka, KS in 1918 and was employed at Central Mills until 1925. In 1927, she married Ralph Rhoades of Newton, KS. She resided there until 1955, when she returned to Topeka and was employed as a house mother for Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Washburn University until 1969. Zelda moved to Duncan, OK in 1996, to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She is survived by one granddaughter, three grandsons, five great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Beverly, preceded her in death in 2006 as well as another daughter, Jolane, in 1982. Entombment was held in Topeka, KS. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
