Yvonne L. Timm Escandon, 81, formerly of Topeka, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at her home in Mexico City, Mexico.
She was born November 6, 1935 in Woodbine, KS, the only child of Milton Roy Timm and Ruth Marcene Kinzie.
Yvonne was a 1952 graduate of Topeka High School and attended St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing from 1957 to 1958.
She worked as a nurse at the American School Foundation in Mexico City and in Topeka, KS.
Yvonne loved to travel and read and also enjoyed cooking, art and fashion.
Her gypsy nature allowed her to live in several different cities including Topeka, KS,; Austin, San Antonio and Dallas, TX; San Jose, CA and Mexico City, Mexico
She married Roberto Escandon in 1958. He preceded her in death in November of 2016.
Survivors include her four children, Rafael, Alex (Jan), Yolanda and Victor (Ilana) Escandon.
She was a proud grandmother of six grandchildren; Renee, Andrew, Sara, Ari, Gabriel and Lia.
Six words that would describe Yvonne would be: Elegant, Gypsy-hearted, Spitfire, Social, Demanding and Fun.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW. 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604 with burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
