Yvette Jeanne Henriette Volder, 85, died peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.
She was born to Daniel Jean Radou and Marie Armandine (Chazeau) Radou on November 16, 1925 in Montagne (Gironde), France. Yvette immigrated to the United States in 1961 and became an American citizen in February 1973. She worked for many years as a technical translator, bilingual secretary, and French teacher in Kansas City, MO and then in Houston, TX. When she retired in 1993, she moved to Topeka, KS.
She is survived by her brother and his wife, Jean and Huguette Radou; and by her sister, Jeanine Radou. She is preceded in death by her first former husband, Andre Francis Michea; and by her second former husband, John Volder. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Patti and Clay Adams of Overbrook, KS, Anita and Dave Fredrick of Fayetteville, AR, Linda Franke of Plano, TX, Jeny and Dennis Hehir of League City, TX, Claudie Safstrom of Foxboro, MA, Danielle and Alain Chastre of Rueil Malmaison, Paris, France, and their families.
A private graveside service is planned for Saturday, December 10, 2011 with interment at Richland Cemetery in Osage County, KS. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
