Winona Sully, 46, of Lawrence, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021.
She was born May 9, 1975, in Fort Yates, North Dakota, the daughter of Miguel and Mary (Moore) Zavala. She attended Olympic Community College in Bremerton, Washington.
Winona was employed by the Ramkota Hotel and worked as their head housekeeper. She also was a homemaker and loved watching and caring for her children as they grew up.
She was a tribal member with Yankton Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, Fort Belknap Assiniboine and Gros Ventre Tribes in Montana, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota and Isanti Sioux Tribe in Nebraska.
Winona loved being a grandma. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Some of her favorite hobbies were creating Native American bead work, dancing at night clubs and chillin' with her homies, listening to music, thrift shopping, and taking photos. She had a green thumb and enjoyed planting and growing flowers. She was lively person and enjoyed being with people. Winona called herself a gypsy and she traveled all over seeing her family, especially to Hawaii. She loved to cook and was known for making her Indian tacos, enchiladas, lumpia, and brownies. She loved doing people's makeup and inspired to be a makeup artist. She was quite the fashionista.
Survivors include her daughter, Margarita (Darren) Rose Mora-Davies, daughter, Angelica Maria Mora, son, Samuel Mahogany Mora, daughter, Isabella Patrice Eagletail and son, Michael Kaveon Sully; her siblings, Jason Moore, Lakota Sully, Jessica Moore-Elpedes, Juanita Zavala, Gabriel Zavala, Valentina Zavala; grandchildren, Darren Davies, Jr., Akemi Maria Rose Galloway, Innocent Unique Jackson; nieces, Winona Atikinson, Aiyana Sully, Chante Gould, Ayesha Sully, Aurora Koch, Kiyomi Moore, Acacia Zavala, Hailiya Juanita Martinez Perez Zavala, Zyla Ignacia Moore and Louise "LuLu" Casillas; nephews, Alfredo Bernel, Gabriel Zavala, Jr., Rogger Zavala, Michael Zavala, Dustin Gray, and Anthony "JuJu" Casillas. She was preceded in death by her mother; one brother, Michael Zavala; grandmother, Ella Mae Moore; best friend/sister, Michelle "Sweet Marie Raine.
