Winifred Nadine Weber, 87, passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2010, at her home. She was born at Olivet Township in Osage County, KS, on August 27, 1922, to Reavy and Nellie Bowman Vaughn. She was the second youngest of eight children. She graduated from Osage City High School. Winnie married the love of her life, Ernest Weber, on July 19, 1941. He preceded her in death. She worked in the insurance business for the Oberhelman-Foltz and Scott Sheetz Insurance Agencies. Winnie's many interests included singing with the New Beginnings Senior Choir, oil painting, crafts, playing cards, dancing with friends at Croco Square, and volunteering at the VA Hospital. She attended the South Knollwood Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of the Post 400 American Legion Auxiliary, VFW, and the Women of the Moose. She is survived by her greatest joys: her five children, Sharon (Larry Joe) Scarbrough of Topeka, Stephanie (David) Jancich of Lenexa, Michael (Julie) Weber of Auburn, Joyce (Randy) Alexander of Topeka, Jill (Tom) Blakeley of Littleton, CO; her 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings and son in law, David Jancich. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Winnie will lie in state from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday, July 26 at the funeral home.
