Wilson G. McQuilkin passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at a local hospital. Mr. McQuilkin was born on September 29, 1915 in Topeka, the son of Otis J. and Jessie (Wilson) McQuilkin.
On May 11, 1939, Wilson married Margaret (Gribble) at the First Christian Church.
Mr. McQuilkin is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Margaret; a daughter, Patricia Olmsted, Topeka; three granddaughters, Katherine Olmsted, Ozawkie, Michelle Woody, Potteau, OK, and Lisa Carter, Topeka; and two great granddaughters, Autumn and Victoria Carter. Mr. McQuilkin was preceded in death by his son, Michael McQuilkin and grandson, Scott Olmsted, his fishing buddies.
Mr. McQuilkin graduated from Topeka High School and Strickler Business School. He served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an officer at M.W. Watson General Contractors until retirement.
Mr. McQuilkin was a member of First Christian Church of Topeka, Masonic Lodge #17 of Topeka, Scottish Rite and Arab Shrine.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private family inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
