Wilma L. Williams, 89, of Bonner Springs, formerly of Topeka, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 at Pinnacle Ridge Nursing Home in Olathe, KS.
She was born July 22, 1917 in Jefferson City, MO, the daughter of Claude and Tracie Perrey Hunter.
She moved to Topeka with her family in 1929. She attended Topeka High School and worked for Hallmark and Walgreen's Drug Store before marrying Vernon Williams. Together, they owned and operated Vern's Cafe until they retired in 1975.
She married Vernon C. Williams on April 7, 1938 in Topeka. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Lawrence and her husband Bret of Olathe and Elaine Smith and her husband Mike of Yorba Linda, CA;one sister, Dorothy Cook of La Habre, CA; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Tuesday, Feb. 27 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 28 at the funeral chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
