Wilma Sicks, 80, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010.
She was born August 2, 1929 in Topeka, the daughter of George and Ella (Luther) Austin. She attended Topeka schools.
She was a 39 year member of American Legion Auxiliary of Overbrook, KS. She was very active in Girl Scouts of America for many years.
Wilma married Jerry Jay Sicks on February 22, 1947 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2002. Survivors include three daughters, Linda L.(Dick) Douglass of Overbrook, KS, Kathy S. (George) Niehoff of Ottawa, KS and Marcia L. (John) Morgan of Topeka; a son, Jerry D. (Marcia Ziegler) Sicks of Gardner, KS; 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Sicks will lie in state after 3 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice of Kansas, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
