Wilma L. Fader passed away May 16, 2012, at Lexington Park Nursing Facility. She was born November 8, 1924, in Ozawkie, KS, the daughter of Scott and Nellie Kramer Metzger. She attended school in both Ozawkie and Oskaloosa, graduating from Oskaloosa High School in 1942. She retired from the Tax/Legal Department of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1986 after nearly 34 years of service.
Wilma was a member of Northland Christian Church where she was active in the Friends/Koinoia Class and the Golden Dinner Club. She also was a charter member of the Topeks Camping Club and had been active in the Swinging Squares Dancing Club, Topeka Needlework, Country Quilters, Telephone Company Pioneers, and the Daughters of the American Revolution before her health prevented her from participating.
She married H. Leo "Buzz" Thomann on October 21, 1944. Buzz passed away in 1970. She later married Harold Hutcheson, who passed away in 1979, and Lawrence "Larry" Fader, who passed away in 1991. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roy Dick Metzger and Delbert Metzger; sister, Cleta Decker; and great-grandson, David Harrop.
Wilma is survived by son, Russ (Mila) Thomann, Topeka, KS; two daughters, Donna (Elmer) Burnett, Topeka, KS and Carole (David) Tozier, Shawnee, KS; two step-sons, Clark (Barbara) Hutcheson, Davie, FL, and William (Karen) Fader, Junction City, KS; step-daughter, Marlaine (Jerry) Self, Topeka, KS; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Northland Christian Church, 3102 NW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, KS 66617. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Fader will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Northland Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
