Wilma Ingram

Wilma E. Ingram, 72, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at a local hospital.

Wilma was born April 24, 1933 on a farm outside Tribune, to William and Letha Byerly. She was one of five children. She lived there until she completed high school and then moved to Kansas City and attended Kansas City Business College.

Wilma married James "Jim" W. Ingram on June 28, 1952 in Marion, Arkansas while Jim was in the U.S. Navy. They lived in Memphis, Tennessee, Honolulu, Hawaii and San Diego, California. Upon completion of Jim's 4 years in the Navy, they moved to Columbia, Missouri where Jim attended the University of Missouri and graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. They lived in Joplin, Missouri, Pittsburg, and Overland Park and later moved to Topeka.

Wilma was active in several different churches where she served as Superintendent of Sunday School, President of the Women's Society and later an Elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Wilma belonged to Shawnee Country Club where she was President of the Nine-hole Lady Golfers.

Wilma worked for Sears for almost 14 years, working her way up to Administrative Assistant. Wilma also worked for Livingston's in Lenexa as Office Manager .

Survivors include her husband of the home: three children; James "Jim" Ingram and wife, Eleonore, Topeka, Steve Ingram and wife, Nancy, Olathe, and Sheryl Max and husband Brad, Kansas City, Missouri. 8 grandchildren: Jamie Smiley, Jeff Ingram, Jason Ingram, Jessica Ingram, Andrea Elliott, Megan Max, Emily Max, Jay Todd Max and 1 great grandchild, Sophia Elliott. She is also survived by a sister, Betty White, Sedan and twin brother, Bill Byerly, Tribune.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 3, 2005 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, with a visitation immediately following. Private family burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Wilma will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 P.M. on Sunday.
