TOPEKA -- Nellie Marie Wyant, 79, Topeka, Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, passed on Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas.
She was born December 15, 1924, in Welda, Kansas, the daughter of Evan and Clarissa Watkins. She attended school there and graduated from Welda High School. She later attended Wichita Business College in Wichita, Kansas. She worked at Boeing and McCormack-Mathers in Wichita, Kansas. She was a mother and home-maker and later worked at Josten's American Yearbook, as a machine operator, where she retired in 1985.
Nellie was a member of Topeka Church of the Brethren, where she was active in various endeavors.
She married Delbert L. Wyant on March 24, 1951, who survives her. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mildred Loughridge and a brother, Marvin Watkins. Surviving are two children; Debra Stiers and Roger Wyant, both of Topeka, Kansas; sisters Fern Jewell, Olathe, Kansas and Norma Wolf, Pasco, Washington; grandchildren, Dan Stiers, Mindy Stiers, Cody Stiers, Mallory Wyant and Bren Wyant, all of Topeka, Kansas.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 24, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Wyant will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 23, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel with visitation from 7-8:00 p.m.
