Wilma Dains, 85, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014. at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, KS.
Wilma was born May 22, 1928, in Michigan Valley, KS. Wilma was the daughter of Rev. Emery and Nellie May Dains. They preceded her in death. Wilma graduated from Oswego High School, received her Bachelor of Education from Pittsburg State University, and her Masters' degree in education from Emporia State University.
Wilma began her teaching career at Pinckney Elementary School in Lawrence, Kansas. She retired from teaching in 1992 after 31 years at Potwin Elementary School. She was a lifetime member of the National Education Association, a member of Kappa Kappa Iota, and First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, knitting and traveling.
Survivors include her cousins Gale (Joan) Johnson and Joanne Johnson all of the Denver area.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, on Monday, February 24, 2014, at 10:00 a.m.
A memorial service will be held at Aldersgate Village, in Wesley Hall on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
