Wilma A. Clifton, 81, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
Wilma was born January 2, 1928 in Topeka, the daughter of William M. and Lucy Ann (Lindsay) Gardner. She attended Topeka Public Schools.
She was employed by Fleming Packaging for 17 years and St. Francis Hospital as Housekeeping Supervisor for 15 years, retiring in 1986. She also drove a school bus for USD-501 for 15 years.
She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.
Wilma married Cloise Clifton on January 27, 1945 in Santa Cruz, CA. He died April 1, 2000. Survivors include son, Harold Clifton, St. Peters, MO; daughter, Karen Clifton, Topeka; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009 at First Southern Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Wilma will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. Thursday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
