William L. Schuette

January 19, 1922 — June 29, 2017

William L. Schuette, Jr., passed away peacefully on June 29, 2017.

He was born to William L. Schuette , Sr. and Abbie (Stelts) Schuette on the family farm in Ottawa County, OK on January 19, 1922. He attended public schools in Oklahoma and graduated from high school and Joplin Business College.

William worked first for Army Corp of Engineers as a clerk typist before receiving a commission in the U.S. Navy and serving as a naval aviator in WWII. Following the war, he attended KU on the GI Bill and earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration in 1952. He then worked at the Topeka Supply Depot, where he met his wife, Susie Houston. William worked for many years as a federal employee, serving in Japan, California, Okinawa and Michigan before retiring to Kansas. William was a long time member of Topeka's Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

William was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his spouse Susie and long term friend Marian Freeman.

He is survived by his three children; Sharon, Mark and Paul; three grandchildren, Steven Swim, Molly Scott and William C. Schuette and one great grandchild, Brandon Scott.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 4700 S.W. 17th St., Topeka.

In lieu for flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3625 S.W. Wanamaker Rd. Topeka, KS 66614.
