William Robert "Bob" Dunn, 86, Topeka, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014.
He was born August 24, 1927, in Burlingame, Kansas, the son of John and Mary (Smith) Dunn. After graduating from Burlingame High School in 1945, he joined the Merchant Marines and traveled the world. He was drafted into the Army in 1950-1952.
Bob owned and operated Washburn View Family Styling Center, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of Brookwood Covenant Church, Arab Shrine Temple all in Topeka and Masonic Lodge No. 79 in Burlingame. Bob loved camping, hunting, fishing and family get-togethers.
In 1955, he married Marilyn Standiferd. Together, they had four daughters. In 1987, he married Erma. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Terry Holmer, and two sisters, Doris Ann Smith and Jane Jankovsky.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Marsha Holmer; Karolin (Michael) Cooper; Patricia Dunn and Donna (Jay) Fitzpatrick, all of Topeka; two brothers, Jack (Violet) Dunn, Carbondale, and Dale (Karen) Dunn, Wichita; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Erma's children, Karen (Mike) Harrison and Susan (Mike) Thompson; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Tuesday, March 11 at Brookwood Covenant Church.
Interment will follow with military honors at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Bob will lie in state after 12 noon on Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5-7 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Brookwood Covenant Church or Arab Shrine Hospital Travel Fund, in care of the funeral home.
