William L. "Bill" Pape, 86, of Topeka, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 16, 2017.
He was born December 27, 1930 in Irving, KS, the son of Alvin and Velma Pape.
Bill was a graduate of Irving High School. He worked on the family farm and at the local mill prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving on the front lines in the Korean War.
He married Martha Ann Zimmerling on July 15, 1951 in Marysville. She preceded him in death in March of 1979.
Bill was a bookkeeper for over thirty years for Firestone Truck Center. After retiring he moved with his significant other, Joyce Pearson, to Enid, OK. They later moved to Home, KS. She preceded him in death in November of 2004.
Bill was fond of auctions, farm sales, hunting and woodworking. Most of all he loved his family. Family reunions were very important to him. He also enjoyed traveling, classic country music and playing cards.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Humpert (Lon) of Edgerton, grandchildren Laurie Henry (Luke), Dustin Humpert (Kathy) and Brandon Pape; six great grandchildren, daughter in law, Linda Pape and a sister, Donna Hileman.
He was also preceded in death by his two sons, Dennis W. and Roger A. Pape and his brother, Richard Pape.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m.,Thursday, December 21 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Home Cemetery, Home, KS.
