William Martin
William F. "Bill" Martin, 87, of Topeka, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008, at Topeka Community Health Center.
He was born March 2, 1920 in Burlington, KS the son of Perry P. and Martha Raber Martin. He was a graduate of Burlington High School.
Bill was employed 40 years with Seymour Foods. He then worked seven years for Frito Lay until retiring in 1985.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Bill married Helen Rose Fox, March 2, 1956 in Topeka. She preceded him in death May 22, 2005. Survivors include two sisters, Verbenia Vogler, St. David, AZ; Lottie Zeferjohn (David) Topeka; a loving and caring niece, Linda Raaf (Ralph), Holton, KS; and several other nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Perry D. Martin and two sisters, Mary Schwindt and Katherine Smith.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the Graceland Cemetery, Burlington, Kansas. Mr. Martin will lie in state after 12:00noon Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial Contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association, Kansas City MO-KS Office, 10580 Barkley, Overland Park, Kansas 66212.
