William M. "Bill" Durrell, 81, of Lawrence, formerly of Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011.
He was born December 24, 1929 in Ames, IA, the son of Glen R. and Hazel M. (Morrison) Durrell. He was a 1953 graduate of Oklahoma A&M University (Oklahoma State University).
He was employed by Dunn and Bradstreet, Topeka Savings Association and Kansas Department of Transportation.
Bill married Sharon Harrington February 13, 1965 in Topeka. He is survived by his former wife, Sharon and a son, Stephen Durrell, both of Lawrence, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Richard Durrell.
A funeral ceremony will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Mr. Durrell will lie in state after 5 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. A graveside ceremony will be at Ozark Memorial Cemetery, Branson, MO.
