William Dean Gangel, 51, Lawrence, passed away on Sunday, Janury 14, 2007.
William was born January 18, 1955 in Topeka, the son of Leo L. and Acsa Isabel (Luthey) Gangel. He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelors and Master's Degrees in Guitar Performance and had been working on his PhD at North Texas University.
He was head of the Guitar program at Texas State University in San Marcos for 13 years, and was currently an instructor of Clasical Guitar at Baker University in Baldwin.
He loved playing the guitar and was happiest when he was performing.
Survivors include his two children, Stephanie and David; his ex-wife, Silvia, all of Garden Ridge, Texas; his mother, Isabel of Topeka; two sisters, Lena Conrad, Olympia, Washington, Ann Hotchkiss, Plano, Texas; a brother, Richard Gangel, Stevensville, Montanna; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
