William F. "Bill" Morriss, Jr., 89, of Topeka, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010.
He was born March 29, 1921 in Topeka, the son of William Floyd and Leatha May (Goff) Morriss. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a First Lieutenant Pilot, B-26 Aircraft flying 27 missions Air Offensive Europe during WW II. He was a retired member of Local No. 226 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
William married Nelda M. Hamby. She preceded him in death. Survivors include his son, Steven R. Morriss of Topeka; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Morriss of Florida. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jana M. Lawrence and a brother, Melvin W. Morriss.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. Memorial ceremonies will be 2 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, 4230 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
