William J. Duffer passed away on April 5, 2022. He was born October 14, 1924 in Hodge, Missouri to Thomas and Valley (Pangborn) Duffer.
He served in the Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific being stationed in both Okinawa as well as Paleau. He also served 5 months in China at the close of the war. He was very proud of his Expert Rifle Marksmanship Medal that he received upon competing in the Pacific Rifle Match in Hawaii in April 1946.
He married Carolyn H. Mayer on May 31, 1950 in Topeka, KS.
Bill worked at the Goodyear Plant in Topeka as a Shift Foreman for 33 years, retiring in 1979. For many years he raised Angus cattle on their farm North of Topeka.
He is survived by his wife and four daughters, Linda (Richard) Strick and Barbara (Dennis) Cole of Topeka, Donna (Hal) Blomquist of North Bend, Oregon and Debbie (Danny) Dollins of Bells, Texas. He has 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Vivian Baugh of Jefferson City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathern Duffer, Marcella Eaton, Louise Taylor and Shirley Siegfried; brothers, Thomas Duffer, Charles Duffer and Leslie Duffer.
Bill loved to hunt and fish. Many hours were also spent in a large garden which his wife canned and he shared with his children.
Honoring Bill's wishes, cremation is planned. He will be laid to rest at Wetmore Cemetery at a later date.
