William C. Dalton

William C. Dalton, 94, of Topeka died peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He was born August 13, 1923 in Wilson, OK, the son of John and Ethel (Moser) Dalton.

Bill graduated from Russell (KS) High School, married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Bridges in 1942 and honorably served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers through the end of WWII. After the war, Bill began a 40+ year career with the Civil Engineering consulting firm of Service and Van Doren, starting as a surveyor. After completing GI-sponsored correspondence school, attending some classes at KU and much practical experience, he became a Licensed Professional Engineer in 1961. He specialized in road and airport runway design and project management for many large infrastructure projects across the U.S. Major local KS projects included aspects of the Kansas Turnpike, I-70 and Forbes Field.

Survivors include his son Bob and his wife Cindy of Lone Tree, CO, daughter-in-law Ann of Topeka, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife of 75 years, Dorothy, his two brothers John and Robert and his eldest son John.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 in the Abbey Chapel at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Bill's name to Community Church, 1819 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604.

Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
