William C. "Bill" Mills, 84, Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012.
Bill was born February 8, 1928 in Vidalia, Georgia to Benjamin F. and Maymie (Blue) Mills. He met his wife Dorothy Willcoxon while stationed at Smoky Hill Air Force Base in Salina, Kansas. Bill and Dorothy had two sets of twins: Carol A. (Gary) Hansen, Carolyn A. Buchenau, Ricky A. (Kim) Mills and Randy W. Mills.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, mother Maymie, brother, J. F. Morris, and sister, Betty Richardson. He leaves behind his sister, Bernice Earick, his four children and five grandchildren: Shawn Hansen, Stacey Hansen, Jennifer Buchenau Hansen, Jessica Mills Reid, and Ian Mills. He also leaves two great-grandchildren: Andrew Hansen and Haylee Hansen. In addition, Mr. Mills leaves several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mills was a salesman all his life. His first sales job was when he was 5 years old selling boiled peanuts after his kindergarten let out for the day. During his life he sold insurance, hearing aids, bibles, food and freezers, and finally cars. He worked for Shortman Dodge and later Ed Bozarth Chevrolet. He received the 1983 Distinguished Sales Award sponsored by the Sales/Marketing Executives Club of Topeka.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town is assisting with arrangements.
