William C. Dittman

William C. "Bill" Dittman, 66, Topeka, Kansas, passed away September 10, 2013, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 6, 1947 in Topeka, Kansas to Louis C. and Frances Baker Dittman. Bill grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka West High School in 1965. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the First Air Cav. Upon his return to Topeka, he attended Washburn University. He worked and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1998 with 35 years of service in non-management and management in Topeka, Abilene and Wichita, Kansas; Independence, Missouri; and Arlington, Texas. He was a member and officer in CWA Local #6041.

Bill married Marti Goebel on November 4, 1989. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Topeka.

Bill's survivors include his wife, Marti; his sons, Keith (Susan) Dittman, Ellsworth, Kansas; Shane (Michelle) Dittman; Christopher (Nicole) Dittman; daughter, Sarah (Wade) Dittman all of Topeka. His grandchildren: Heather, Tara, Kyhla, Joshua, Mallory, Jacob, Colby, Alexander, Auston, Haylie, Brody, Brynnan and Chance; and five great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Judy Hotchkiss; brother, Elmer Allen; and granddaughter, Shea Dittman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Mount Hope Chapel, 17th & Fairlawn. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606 or First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas 66603.
