William A. Land, 84, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015.
He was born May 26, 1930, in Clinton, Oklahoma, the son of William and Sarah (Andrew) Land.
William was a United States Air Force veteran and truck driver for Apple Lines for a number of years, retiring in 1992.
On May 29, 1950, he married Oleta L. Medlin. She preceded him in death on March 21, 1991.
Survivors include daughters, Pamela Sue Land and Debra L. (Roy) Mannen; sister, Wilma "Ruth" (Cletus) Eubanks; and grandchildren, Shawn Christopher Mannen and Denise Nicole (Mat) Pedroza. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Ellen Underwood.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015, at University United Methodist Church, 1621 SW College, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. William will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where the family will receive guests from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to University United Methodist Church or VFW Post 1650.
