William A. "Art" Gardner, 86, Topeka, passed away January 2, 2003, at a local care facility.
He was born November 3, 1916, in Humboldt, Kansas the son of Thomas and Catherine McKinnon Gardner. He has lived in Topeka, Kansas 60 years.
Mr. Gardner served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1941. He was employed by the Kansas Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer. He was a member of the Kansas and Topeka Engineering Society. He was also a member of St. David's Episcopal Church.
He married Henrietta Shaw March 22, 1941, in Manhattan, Kansas. She survives

A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 6, 2003, at St. David's Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Gardner will lie in state after 8:00 a.m., Sunday, January 5, 2003, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel with a visitation from 3-4:00 p.m.
