Willa Hope (Tosh) Vogel
Willa H Vogel passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born Willa Hope Tosh on January 14, 1927 to Freda Alice Brunton & Henry Ray Tosh. Preceding her in death are her brothers (Ralph & Glen Tosh) and a great grandson Justin Norby. Evelyn Kirk in Neosha, MO, Jean Barge and Gayle Albright in Topeka are her surviving sisters. She lived in the Valley Falls, KS area until her family moved to Topeka when she was in grade school. She married David L Vogel in Topeka on December 25, 1943 and he passed away on December 27, 1987. She is survived by her children Randal Vogel (Topeka), Daniel Vogel (MO), Diana Martin (Topeka), 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren. Willa Vogel worked with her mother making draperies for Thatcher's and Penny's during the day and worked at the Plantation Steak House from 5:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. as hostess/waitress which she co-owned with her husband. She retired in 1999 after selling the Plantation Steak House as of December 31, 1998 and The North Star Supper Club as of January 31, 1999. She was a member of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce. She was written up in the Who's Who of American Women 1989/1990 & 1991/1992 editions and her biography was included in the Edition two of 5,000 Personalities of the World for Distinguished Contributions as a Restaurateur. Her funeral will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel and she will reside at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery beside her husband. Mrs. Vogel will lie in state after 12:00 noon Wednesday and the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 .p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
