Wilda M. (Horton) Brock, 90, died Monday, August 17, 2015, at Brewster Place Health Center.
Wilda was born August 10, 1925, in Blue Mound, KS, the daughter of Clarence T. and Edith C. (Sunderland) Horton. She graduated from Blue Mound High School and then went on to obtain her BA in Education from The University of Kansas. Wilda taught at Wakeeney School District and the Topeka Public Schools; at Highland Park Junior High, Eisenhower Junior High, Roosevelt Junior High, Robinson Middle School, and was the nutritionist for the Follow Through program.
Wilda married Don W Brock on June 6, 1948, in Blue Mound, KS. She was a longtime member of Central Presbyterian Church. She and Don served as both First Mates and Skippers of the National Presbyterian Mariners couples organization.
She is survived by her loving husband; two children, Gloria (Gary) Fish, of Topeka, KS, Carol Brock, of Topeka, KS; four grandchildren, Jarrod, Jeremy, and Jason Fish, and Talia Brock; and eight great-grandchildren.
Wilda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl Horton; sisters, Hazel McDonald and Shirley Barnes; son, Steven Craig Brock; and daughter, Marcia Dawn Brock.
A funeral ceremony will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Central Presbyterian Church, 920 SW Huntoon, Topeka. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka.
