Wesley E. Nelson
TOPEKA -- Wesley E. Nelson, 96, of Topeka, passed away on
Wednesday, December 5, 2007. He was born November 1, 1911,
in Falun, KS, the son of William E. and Freda Nelson. Wesley graduated
from Lindsborg High School and attended Brown-Mackie Business College.
He was head Miller for Rodney Mill/Seaboard Corporation in
Lindsborg/Topeka, Kansas for 34 years.
He had been a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1954.
Wesley married Frances C. Stromberg on Aug. 31, 1940. She
preceded him in death November 12, 2005. Survivors include
daughters, Charlotte Provo-Blenden and husband, Sam, and Velma
M. Pollock, and husband, Bill, all of Topeka; three grandchildren,
Tina Gannaway and husband, Bill, Topeka; Mark Provo and wife
Krista, Carlsbad, Calif.; and Marty Provo and wife, Jennifer,
Chandler, Ariz.; four step-grandchildren, Sammy Blenden and wife,
Christie, Bryan Blenden and wife, Tanya, Geoff Blenden and wife,
Debbie, and Justin Blenden and wife, Billie, all of Topeka; seven
great-grandchildren; and eight step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery in Lindsborg. Mr. Nelson will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2 p.m. Friday, with visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
