Wayne E. St. Clair
Wayne E. St. Clair, 82, Topeka, died Feb. 15, 2008 after a long illness. He was born Feb. 13, 1926 in Downs, Kansas the son of Ross R. and Kathleen Esther (Miller) St. Clair.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a military veteran serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a highly decorated veteran receiving the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and Oak Leaf Clusters. Wayne resided in Topeka most of his adult life. He greatly enjoyed life and his friends. He was very sociable. He especially enjoyed the friendships at all the bingo halls and he had "all the luck".
His funeral will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at the Assembly of God Church, Osborne, Kansas with the Rev. Michael Krager officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Portis, Kansas with military honors by VFW 7743 and American Legion 49, Osborne. There will be two periods of visitation. He will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. and visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Wed., Feb. 20 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka. Visitation in Osborne will be one hour before the service Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne St. Clair Scholarship Fund c/o Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
