Wayne L. Hill

Wayne L. Hill, 90, of Tecumseh, passed away on April 12, 2011. He was born January 10, 1921, in Topeka, the son of Ross and Maude Shipman Hill.

Wayne was a Seaman High School graduate and later earned his Bachelor's Degree from Washburn University. On October 8, 1943, in Topeka, he married Kathryn Quaney. She survives. Wayne was the founder of Hill & Company Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Hill, of the home; sons, Bruce Hill, Daryl (Sandy) Hill, Craig (Shelley) Hill, and Larry (Carol) Hill; daughter, Tracie Hundley, all of Topeka; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and sisters, Peggy Sprouse, and Ivagean Crable. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ross Hill; sisters, Evelyn Messenger and Hazel Whitaker; and grandson, Jason Hill.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Wayne will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66608, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
