Wayne Eugene Crawford

Wayne Eugene Crawford, 66, of Topeka, KS passed away at Stormont Vail hospital on December 6, 2006.

Wayne was born May 6, 1940 in Burlingame, KS to Clarence Patrick and Dorothy Fern (Griffin) Crawford.

Wayne entered the Navy at age 16 where he served for 10 years and became a licensed aircraft mechanic during that time. Wayne was an active member of VFW Post #10815 and American Legion Post #1.

On August 1, 1965, Wayne married Dee Houser. They spent over 40 wonderful years together, raising two sons, Patrick Wayne and Richard Leon. Wayne was a loving Papa to Patrick and Tonya Crawford's two children. Dylan Patrick and Austin Wayne. His grandsons were the light of his life. Wayne was the owner and operator of Wayne Crawford Siding and Window Sales for 35 years. His business will be continued by his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dee; son Patrick Wayne, daughter-in-law Tonya and their two sons, Dylan Patrick and Austin Wayne. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Crawford; sisters, Darlene Crabb and Marilyn Dysinger. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Leon Crawford, and his parents.

Wayne was loved by his friends and family for his sense of humor and huge heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December11, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2401 SW Kingsrow Road. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, 820 SW Auburn Road. Wayne will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
