Wayne C. Randel, 74, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at his home. He was born on April 1, 1934 in Havensville, KS, the son of Paul D. and Edna Pitcher Randel. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Wayne resided in Havensville for 17 years before moving to Topeka. He was employed by Ed Marlings for 40 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Havensville Christian Church and the Moose Lodge in Topeka. Wayne married Shirley Sauvage on November 24, 1955 in Havensville. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2007. Survivors include two daughters, Joni L. (Stan) Michaelis and Ronda S. (Neal) Foster both of Topeka, five grandchildren, Grady, Joey, Dustin, Rachel and Brooke, five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsea, Dylan, Alize` and Jackson, two sisters, Elaine Keeney of Topeka , Dorothy McDougal of Havensville and one brother, Roger V. Randel of Havensville. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Entombment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Wayne will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Care of Kansas,2900 SW Oakley Ave., Topeka, KS 66614.
