Wayne Barnard

Wayne E. Barnard, 87, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at a local hospital.

Wayne was born November 14, 1916, in Boyle, Kansas to Earl and Grace Marshall Barnard. He married Nita Doris Brown, August 20, 1939. She preceded him in death. He married Floye Graham Strait, September 19, 1981. He retired from the US Postal Service after 23 years and worked many years for the Topeka Capital-Journal. His wife Floye, sons Robert L. and Jack L. and daughter Kathryn S. survive him. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He formed the Faith Gospel Singers and was active with the group for over 18 years.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 7, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Barnard will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Thursday, with a visitation from 7-8:00 p.m.
