Wanda Jones

Wanda L. Jones, 81, of Topeka, died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at a Topeka hospital.

She was born on August 14, 1924 in Topeka, the daughter of Ray and Myrtle Carson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard R. Carson of Topeka and Birchel C. Carson of Wichita.

After graduating from Topeka High School in 1942, she managed the cosmetic department for several years at Crosby Bros. Department Store, where she was the head buyer.

She was married on October 23, 1943 to Edwin L. Jones, (deceased). They raised three children, Craig, Jill, and Scott, all of whom survive.

Prior to retirement, she was a long term employee of Brock Hotel Corporation, where she managed the restaurants of all three Topeka area Holiday Inns.

She was an avid bridge player all of her life, and enjoyed the many special friendships cultivated at the card table.

Late in life, and at the urging of family and friends, she started a small commercial venture-"Wanda's Kitchen".She delighted in sharing her delicious chocolate fudge, cookies and specialty candies.

Mrs. Jones was cremated per her wishes. Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. February 21, 2006 at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, Kansas 6604.
