He was a member of West Side Christian Church where he served on several church boards including board moderator.
He belonged to the Thursday morning Men's Bible Study Group. He was a former member of the Highland Park Optimist Club. He ran for the 55th District of the House of Representatives in 1978. He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association and several other camping and traveling clubs.
