Walter R. Mosby, 84, Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Midland Hospice House.
Walt was born April 3, 1931 in Topeka, the son of Barry and Waltreen Mosby. He graduated from Topeka High School and attended Washburn University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was a Police officer for the City of Topeka for over 30 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in the Detective division. He also served in the Patrol and K-9 divisions. He was a member of the F.O.P.
Walt married Carolyn Caldwell on August 26, 1960 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Karen Jenkins, Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Breda Jenkins; grandson, Bryant Jenkins; great-granddaughter, Autumn Beiswanger; sister-in-laws, Gilda Edwards and Laura Caldwell; nephew, Mark Edwards; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Reginald Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19th.
