Walter H. Poore, Jr., 61, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
He was born March 4, 1955, in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of Gen. Walter H. Poore, USAF (Retired) and Joye A. (Sligh) Poore. He graduated from Montgomery Catholic High School in 1973 and attended the University of Columbia, South Carolina. He was a dental technician in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two siblings, Susan Bretz, Charleston, SC and Patrick E. Poore, Larkspur, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas W. Poore.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 at Central Congregational Church, 1248 SW Buchanan St., Topeka, with funeral service to will follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
