He received the honorary service award from the Kansas Soil and Water Conservation Society in 2002 for life-time service. He retired on December 29, 1978. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Siloam #225, the Arab Shrine, York Rite Bodies, Provost Guard, and the Moose Lodge, all of Topeka. Past Worthy Patron, Order of the Eastern Star in Effingham, Kansas. Member of Central Presbyterian Church and was a former Elder and Clerk of Session.
