Vula Bass

Vula Lucille Bass, 90, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at, Rolling Hills Health Center, Topeka.

Mrs. Bass was born in Hartsville, Missouri on February 27, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Ellen Pigg. She had three brothers, Virgil, Van and Dick Pigg, all deceased. She is a graduate of Washburn Rural High School. She married George Bass, Jr. in Philadelphia, PA on September 2, 1939. They were married for 58 years. Mr. Bass preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda A. Wenger and Judy A. Schimmel , three grandchildren, Mark J. Massaro, Holly L. Rivera and Jeremy J. French , and two great-grandchildren, Madeline M. Rivera and Gabriella S. Rivera ; two sisters-in-law, Lois Bisel and Beverly Pigg all of Topeka; and several neighbors, friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Vula will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
