Vivian P. Young, 85, died, Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born to David and Nina Goodwin Williams on January 30, 1921, in Topeka, Kan.
Mrs. Young graduated from Topeka High School in 1939. She then graduated from Clark's Secretarial School and then attended Jane C. Stormont School of Nursing. Later, she worked as a dental assistant and secretary for Southard School of the Menninger Foundation. She married Raymond Young on December 27, 1958 and became a dedicated homemaker and bookkeeper for his business, Ray's Motor Service. Ray preceded her in death on March 22, 2006.
She was a member of West Side Christian Church and a founding member of the Red Rascalettes Red Hat Society at Aldersgate Village.
She is survived by daughters, Cindy Craig, Prescott, Ariz., and Marty Long, Mesa, Ariz.; son, Dave Young, Topeka; sister, Genevieve Humbert, Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren Sean Craig, Prescott, Ariz. and Teri Shepard, Nixa, Missouri; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Young will be at 11:00 am Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Young will lie in state after noon Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm.
