Vivian L. Zimmerman

Vivian L. Zimmerman, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at her home. She was born September 9, 1928 in Dover, the daughter of Harry E. and Fern Maybelle Ginter Patterson, Sr.

Vivian graduated from Dover Rural High School. She taught in No. 6 and West Union Rural schools prior to her marriage. She later was employed by the State of Kansas in the Revenue Department for 27 years before retiring in May, 1992.

Vivian married Herald W. "Bud" Zimmerman on May 6, 1950 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Smith, Evelyn Dalrymple, Arlene Stroth and Harry Patterson, Jr. Survivors include two sons, Leslie Zimmerman of Texas, John Zimmerman of Colorado, three daughters, Judith A. Shumate of Topeka, Linda (Ronald) Beach of Topeka and Lois (Terry) Headley of Missouri, six grandchildren, two great-grandsons and her siblings, Maybelle Conese, Eloise Deiter, Faith Borner, Harold Patterson and Jerry Patterson.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Dover Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
