Vivian E. Diller, 93, Topeka, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at a local hospital.
Vivian was born on Dec. 3, 1914, in Morrowville, the daughter of John W. and Mabel F. (Mayberry) Odgers. She grew up in Morrowville and graduated from Morrowville Rural High School before beginning her career as an elementary school teacher in Washington County. She later worked at First National Bank and Wheeler's Farm Supply in Belleville.
She was a member of Opal Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Belleville and active in Rainbow for Girls. She enjoyed sewing and was a member of the quilting group at Central Christian Church in Belleville. She was also a member of First Christian Church in Topeka.
After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed being snow birds in Paradise Park in McAllen, TX, where they spent the next 20 plus winters.
Vivian married Max R. "Buck" Diller on May 25, 1934. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2007. Survivors include daughters Connie Lee Moritz and husband, Don of Overland Park, KS; Sue Ann Bryant, Westlake Village, CA; Debbie Drum and husband, Loren of Canyon Lake, TX and Heather Elliff and husband, Carson of Springfield, MO; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Velma Waterman; and daughter Judie Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 2, 2008 at First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 PM. Vivian will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to service.
