Victoria Oakley Sims of Topeka, Kansas, died Friday, May 14, 2010 at the McCrite's Health Center. She was born November 14, 1905 in Valley Falls, Kansas the daughter of Howard and Myrtle Oakley. She moved to Topeka as an infant and spent her life here. She married Willis "Bill" Sims June 27, 1928 in Topeka and they had celebrated a 71st anniversary.
She was a graduate of Oakland High School, Strickler's Business College and completed the Menninger four year Bible study course. In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed at the Kansas Teacher's Association, the Topeka Township Water Department and the Corporation Commission of Kansas. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church and the Ladies Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Sims Selig and husband James of Bella Vista, AR., three granddaughters, a son-in-law and three great grandchildren all of Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband two sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th in Topeka. The family will receive friends for a reception following the service from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at McCrite Plaza, 1608 SW 37th St, North entry.
