Verna Frances Scheetz-Perreault, 85, Topeka, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Aldersgate Village.
Verna was born July 25, 1927 in Topeka, the daughter of Robert W. and Anna Maye (Cross) McMurray. She graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Washburn University.
She had worked at Martin Tractor Company, Bradbury Law Office, Kansas Association of School Boards, and the National Organization for Legal Problems in Education. She retired in 1992.
She had been a member of Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church and later attended Lowman United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed traveling, photography, sewing, making crafts and painting. She owned several dogs and cats throughout her life, which brought her much enjoyment.
Verna married Robert L. Scheetz in 1947. They later divorced. She married Ronald L. Perreault on July 2, 1988. He survives. Other survivors include daughters, Nancy Scheetz-Freymiller and husband, Rick, Anchorage, AK, Carol Scheetz and husband, Ron Compton, Topeka, and Catherine Hartzell and husband, Allen, Phoenix, AZ; sons, Dennis R. Scheetz and wife, Margaret, Portland, ME, and Larry L. Scheetz, Topeka; step-daughter, Rhiannon Price, Ventura, CA; 6 grandchildren (Elizabeth, Jeffery, Andrew, Hana, Caitlon, Zachary); 3 step-grandchildren (Kayla, Alyssa, Ashlie); and 5 great-grandchildren (Jordan, Jacob, Gabby, AJ, Izaak). She was preceded in death by a brother, Loren R. McMurray, and a stepson, Jeffrey S. Perreault.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 2 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Verna will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
