Verda (Dierking) Ham, 96, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
She was born October 28, 1926, in Bremen, Kansas, the daughter of Herman and Elise (Westerman) Dierking.
She was the best mom and nana hands down. Her world was her family. She was her children's biggest fan and supporter and she was always there for them. She always made her family feel loved. The best years of her life was raising her family.
Verda worked at Bobo's Drive In for over 40 years. Working there was her bottle of medicine after her husband Gene passed away in 1970. While working there, she was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
On the weekends you would catch Verda at Prairie Band Casino and playing Bingo!
Verda married Gene Ham on November 22,1948 in Bremen, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1970.
Survivors include her children, Julie (Randy) Huntsman, Bev (Harold) Huntsman, Michael (Patti Jo) Ham, and Pam (Pat) Tierce; grandchildren, Harold Gene (Kim) Huntsman, Dan Lipscomb, Eric (Elaine) Lipscomb, Jacque (Justin) Simpson, and Stephen (Kate) Tierce; great-grandchildren, Oakley Lipscomb, Chloe Lipscomb, Caleb Lipscomb, Peyton Simpson, Tanner Simpson, Bennett Simpson, Ava Wise, and Jack Tierce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Elise; husband, Gene Ham; twin sister, Verna Linnemann; sisters, Paula, Ruth, Esther, Ella and, Annie and her brothers, Norman and Edwin.
The family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604.
A Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Ave., Topeka. Luncheon will follow the burial.
