Vera Marie Reinfeld Davis, 85, of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
She was born September 9, 1920 near Westphalia, Kansas, the daughter of Orville L. and J. Mable Reinfeld. She moved with her parents to Iola as a child and attended the public schools in that city.
She and her husband lived in Iola, Chanute, Independence and Manhattan before moving to Topeka. She was active in PTA and other school support work. She had also served as docent for the ERC Designers Showhouse. Mrs. Davis was a member of the West Side Christian Church and several bridge groups.
She was married to Lester R. Davis in Iola on November 16, 1941. They were the parents of two sons, Robert E. "Bob" of Lawrence and James B. , who passed away in 1995. She is survived by her husband, one son, two grandsons; Steven M. of Lawrence and Paul James of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, and a sister, Marguerite Nelson of Edmond, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Davis will lie in state after 2:00 pm today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 18, 2006 at West Side Christian Church,with burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
