Vera V. Colley, 97, Topeka, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at Plaza West Regional Health Center.
She was born in Osage City, Kansas, on April 19, 1911, the daughter of Abraham and Mary Milano Corbolotti. She attended Osage City schools and Strickler's Business College in Topeka.
Mrs. Colley was employed as a secretary for many years in Lincoln, Nebraska; Detroit, Michigan and Topeka. She retired from Farmers Home Administration, in Topeka in August, 1976.
She was a member of Central Church of Christ in Topeka; American Legion Auxiliary of Robert Heizer Post 198, Osage City, for over 60 years, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She was married in Troy, Michigan, on July 24, 1943, to James Colley. She and her husband moved to Osage City in 1944, where for a number of years, she assisted her husband in several business ventures. They moved to Topeka in 1970.
Survivors include three sons: James Colley, Jr., Manhattan; Robert Colley and Michael Colley, Topeka; one brother, Ralph Corbolotti, Dayton, Ohio; five granddaughters, three grandsons and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Reifschnedier, Mrs. Madeline Hulse and two brothers, Joseph Corbolotti and Frank Corbolotti.
Funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Osage City Cemetery. Mrs Colley will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, February at the funeral home.
