Vera Charlotte Thackrey Faulconer

Vera Charlotte Thackrey Faulconer, 95, of Topeka, died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born on November 7, 1909 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Rev. John E. and Elva L. Palmer Thackrey. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1927, attended Southwestern College and graduated from Kansas State Agricultural College in 1931. She taught in the high schools at Paradise, Palco and Greensburg, Ks. She later taught at East Indianola School in the Seaman school district before retiring in 1971 after 20 years of teaching. She was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church, the Topeka Area Retired Teachers Association serving as a Tour Guide , the Engineers Auxillary, Opti-Mrs and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She married John Virgil Faulconer on June 6, 1936 in Bushton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 4, 1976. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jay E. Faulconer on February 24, 1993. Survivors include one daughter, Carol I. O'Neill and her husband, Lee of Manhattan, Ks., four grandchildren, Laura Harris of Lexington, Kentucky, Charlotte Harris of Phoenix, Arizona, Stephen Harris of Kansas City, Missour, and Ann Harding and her husband Tim of Cashton, Wisconsin, four great-grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Andrew and Jenny Harding. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trent Plaza at Aldersgate Village. Mrs. Fauconer will lie in state after Noon Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
