VELMA EDITH DAUNER
TOPEKA- Velma Edith Dauner, 89, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 in Topeka Kansas. She was born October 29, 1917 at Isabel, Kansas, the daughter of John J. and Minnie Miller Dye. She attended school at Isabel and Sawyer, Kansas. She married Everett E. Dauner on January 22, 1936 in Wichita, Kansas.
Mrs.Dauner was a 4-H clothing instructor and was active in a Home Demonstration unit for many years in Barber County, Kansas. She taught junior and ladies Bible classes. The family moved to California in 1955 and she was employed by Stanford University as supervisor of two student dormitories. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Quivera Heights Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband Everett of Topeka; a daughter Elaine Poland, Bona, Missouri; three sons, Duane of Sacramento, California, Max of Marseille France, and Marlon of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Roxie Hyatt of Bentonville, Arkansas and Helen Charles of Wichita, Kansas; a brother Harold Hakanson of Anthony, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Dye, Clyde Hakanson, Carlton Hakanson, and a granddaughter, Kelly Nicole Dauner.
Services will be at Penwell Gabel Midtown Chapel on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Internment will be at Ellenwood Cemetery, Sawyer, Kansas on Monday, June 18, 2007 at 11:00am.
